Jason Countryman
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, Voice
Whether you want to complete a classical guitar certification program, learn to navigate jazz band charts, get into all-state, or just jam with some friends, you’ve come to the right place.
With his ability to teach to practically any musical style or technique, Jason helps his students achieve a wide variety of goals while developing strong fundamentals. All of Jason’s students learn how to read various types of notation, play with proper technique, get the most out of their practice time, and understand and apply the theory underlying their playing.
Jason is a professional musician who has been teaching since 2002, with a focus on guitar, ukulele, performance and songwriting. His background as a multi-instrumentalist provides a foundation for his approach to musicality, drawing influence from and being able to teach to a variety of styles and aspects of musicianship. Jason holds a B.A. in Music Composition and Classical Guitar from Cal State University, East Bay, and has extensive experience across a variety of music genres. He has performed with rock bands, jazz bands, folk bands, experimental groups, theater pit orchestras, electronica groups, and as a classical/fingerstyle soloist, to name a few. Building community is a passion for Jason: he hosts regular recitals and jams for his students, and helps connect them with local resources (open mics, bands looking for members, local workshops, etc).
